Riva Naimark, L.M.T.
Riva Naimark, BA, LMT graduated from Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences, with an AOS - Massage Therapy degree in 2000. In 2017, she completed a two year grant working at Mount Sinai Downtown Chelsea Cancer Center, Infusion Suite with Chemotherapy and Biotherapy patients. Prior to that, she worked for 15 years treating people with a wide variety of chronic and/or terminal illness. In addition, since 2009, she continues as Voluntary Clinical staff at Mount Sinai Medical Center Department of Palliative Medicine and Geriatrics. Her specialties include Swedish massage and Shiatsu for people with the following: cancer, a variety of autoimmunie diseases, as well as geriatric individuals. She is certified in Oncology Massage as well as Hospital-Based Massage for people with life threatening illness. Besides providing massage therapy, she is also a mentor to massage therapists and massage students desiring to work with people who are ill.
She came to massage therapy as a second career after being in the travel industry. In 1991, she graduated from Clark University with a Bachelor's degree in French. Her previous customer service background asa well as bilingual skills are carried over into the care offered to her diverse patient / client population. Using her 8 years of knowledge about both in-patient as out-patient care, she creates a therapy plan specifically designed to address each individuals's condition using a combination of Eastern as well as Western techniques. She has worked extensively with people during all stages of disease including: remission, active treatment, and/or end-of-life. She has a comprehensive understanding of disease progression as well as side effects of medical intervention. Her goal is to provide her clients the touch that provides them relief from symptoms and side effects of treatment thereby assisting them to pursue their daily activities with more ease.
